Empoli President Fabrizio Corsi confirms ‘we have an agreement’ to sell Mirko Valdifiori to Napoli.

It was reported earlier today that the Partenopei were seeking to sign the player, as well as Elseid Hysaj and Riccardo Saponara, and the Tuscan side’s patron confirms interest in all three.

“Last night’s dinner with Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis was constructive,” Corsi told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“Valdifiori? I think Napoli still have a bit to discuss with the player, for our part, we have an agreement. But an agreement must also be reached with the player himself.

“I’m convinced that the final choice will be Napoli, for a number of reasons, because they have a Coach [Maurizio Sarri] who will hand him the baton and allow him to be the conductor of the Azzurri midfield.

“There’s an agreement between Napoli and Empoli, so now the ball is in Mirko’s agent’s court.

“He should be encouraged to have this important experience in a Napoli shirt, De Laurentiis has always been an admirer of Valdifiori.

“Hysaj? We’ll probably have to talk about selling him, in the sense that he’s a lad whose form has exploded and he wants to get away from Empoli to go to a more prestigious club.

“He grew a lot in the second half of the season, and there could be interest in him abroad. We have interest in him, but there haven’t been negotiations.

“As for Saponara, he’s the opposite. He’d like to have a season as a protagonist in an Empoli shirt, so he can be on the market next year and maybe go to a Champions League club, which he has the potential to do.

“There’s interest from Napoli and others, but the lad isn’t distracted by money.

“The transfer market is just beginning, let’s see what happens in the next few weeks.”

Corsi also took the time to discuss Daniele Rugani, who spent the last two seasons with Empoli, but has returned to Juventus this summer.

“He’s a model professional, a war machine. If he were to be sold, it would be outright, so he’d have more chance of playing.

“But I know Juventus won’t sell him, even for big offers from abroad.”
