The Bianconeri patron and Inter President Steven Zhang were speaking at a panel at the prestigious Bocconi university in Milan, titled ‘Financial Fair Play: does it matter?’

“When you think about the health of a club, you consider its economic prospects,” said Agnelli.

“When you think about the health of a club, you consider its economic prospects,” said Agnelli.

“Football is continually evolving. Rules are important, but so is the rapport between the rules broken and the sanctions.

“As things stand now, UEFA can intervene 18 months late and that means something has to change. We want more transparency and it would also be beneficial to the UEFA disciplinary committee.

“The principle cases are quite easy to investigate. The smaller ones are far more complicated. It would therefore help to introduce ‘accounting standards’ for the entire football system.”
