Andrea Agnelli assures ‘Juventus is bigger than any man who could ever be at the helm’ after stepping down as President amid an investigation into financial irregularities, and continues to push for the Super League.
He had been in the role since 2010, during which the team amassed nine consecutive Serie A titles, but resigned along with the entire Board of Directors on Monday evening.
Agnelli met with members of the Juve Club within the Italian Parliament, something that had already been planned, and reassured them on the future.
“Juventus is bigger than any man who could ever be at the helm,” ANSA report he told them.
“I remain Juve’s Number 1 fan and this will not change anything for the plans and objectives of the squad, a team that is capable of winning anything.”
Agnelli also reiterated the decision to resign was made in accordance with Exor chief and his cousin John Elkann.
Despite the investigation for alleged salaries paid to players under the table and therefore not on the official balance sheet, Agnelli continues to maintain the European Super League should go ahead.
In fact, he attended the appointment with the Juve Club Parlamento accompanied by Bernd Reichart, who is the new general manager of the European Super League project.
“I already said in 2019 that this system does not work and should be regulated from within. It needs to be changed.”
The 7/9 in the super league will be amazing. They can become the relegation style team in such a setup and it will be great to see bigger clubs do them week in week out.
