Juventus President Andrea Agnelli has “great ambition” but the club respects Financial Fair Play.

A round-table meeting about FFP is taking place today in Milan, and the Bianconeri patron gave his thoughts to journalists on his arrival.

“We hope you understand that for us we can return to competing in Europe after the defeat in the Champions League final,” Agnelli explained.

“There are times where it could seem like you lose that desire, but on the contrary that’s what we have to start from.

“I’ve been at Juve for six years, any action taken at my club is taken with Financial Fair Play in mind.

“It’s up to those in charge to combine the need to win with the need to follow the rules. It’s been six intense years.

“The goal was to make Juve competitive both nationally and internationally, and to do this you need human and financial resources.

“I was fortune to have met Giuseppe Marotta, and with him [Fabio] Paratici and [Pavel] Nedved.

“The four realities in Europe are Bayern [Munich], Real [Madrid], Barcelona and [Manchester] United.

“The other realities are hard to analyse, there’s PSG [Paris Saint-Germain] and [Manchester] City whose growth hasn’t been entirely organic.

“The others are all two steps below. We have great ambition, and the next five years will be the hard part, but we’re looking forward with great enthusiasm.”
