Andrea Agnelli was awarded ‘Best European president’ at the Golden Boy 2020, he warned Juventus: ‘Never lower our guard against Porto’ and joked: ‘We need to find a stool for Bonucci.’

The Bianconeri were drawn with the Portuguese side in the last 16 stage of the Champions League.

The Old Lady beat Porto in the last 16 stage of the competition in the 2016-17 campaign with Leonardo Bonucci who didn’t play the first-leg because of disagreements with Max Allegri. The Italian defender followed the game played in Portugal sitting on a stool.

“With a little bit of superstition, we joked saying we should immediately found a stool for Bonucci,” Agnelli said.

“We were eliminated from these competitions over the last few years despite being the favourites. We must never lower our guard, we need to face Porto with seriousness, they have a great European tradition.

“I want to share today’s award with every women and men working at Juventus,” he added.

“We would not be able to obtain these results without everyone’s efforts.”

Where does he see Juve in the next nine-ten years?

"The reflection we have to make is linked to the time of our industry after the pandemic. The prediction of a €8-9 billion loss for the whole movement makes it clear the moment we are living.

“I see so much interest of financial institutions in our sector. I imagine Juventus to excel in Italy and Europe in ten years."

After speaking abut Paulo Dybala’s contract extension he focused his attention on Andrea Pirlo and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“We are fascinating by Pirlo’s ideas. It was nice to see how he formed the staff, there is attention, modernity and humanity. Football is judged by the results and reading the reports these days it looks like we passed from the stars to the stables pretty quickly.

"Ronaldo’s sense of humour is what no one would expect and we appreciate it every day," he concluded.
