Mattia Zaccagni’s agent confirms Napoli are 'strongly interested' in the Hellas Verona midfielder, but explains why the Azzurri have put transfer talks on hold.

“Napoli were and still are strongly interested in Zaccagni. They want to sign him regardless of who the next coach will be,” the player’s agent Fausto Pari told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“Talks have been put on hold because there was a big mess at Napoli in January."

The Azzurri lost three games in January, including the Italian Super Cup final against Juventus and an away Serie A game at Hellas Verona with Zaccagni who found the net of the goal.

Verona didn’t want to sell the player in the middle of the season and Napoli knew he would stay at his club until the end of the season," the agent claimed.

“There are also other clubs interested in signing Zaccagni,” Pari added.

Who could replace Gattuso at Napoli next season?

“I would bet €1 on [Simone] Inzaghi.

“We know he is attached to Lazio, but he hasn’t extended his contract yet, and that must mean something.”
