Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to pay over €30m for Genoa defender Rade Dragusin, but his agent warns today that while there are talks with the Premier League side, ‘he is not thinking about leaving mid-season.’

This could put a spanner in the works, as Spurs turned towards Dragusin precisely because they need a new central defender within days, if not hours, to fill the gaps during an injury crisis.

Multiple sources have confirmed that Tottenham are desperate to sign the Romania international and would be willing to meet the asking price set by Genoa of €30m plus bonuses.

Agent Florin Manea spoke to TV Play in Italy this evening and was asked about the future.

“He does not think about money, but about prospects for growth and the team he can play for. We were contacted by Saudi Pro League clubs, but he did not even want to listen to their proposals.

“Personally, I have not been contacted by Napoli, Roma or Milan. In any case, Radu is not thinking about leaving Genoa mid-season, it would be like leaving some unfinished business for him.

“I have had contact with clubs in the Premier League, including Tottenham and others, but at this moment he does not want to leave.”

However, the representative did leave the door open to that changing if Genoa really do push Dragusin out the door in the January transfer window.

“If Genoa talk to someone and reach an agreement, we will listen to their proposal. I don’t know exactly what ideas the club has and what formula they would eventually consider for his sale.”

Dragusin will turn 22 next month and already has 12 senior caps for Romania.

He came up through the Juventus youth academy and was sold to Genoa after an initial loan spell for €5.5m plus bonuses.

  1. This is the ONLY media source claiming this whilst almost every other one states :
    1. “personal terms agreed”
    2. his agent quoted as saying about him, “it’s his dream to play in the Premier League.”
    3. a deal is imminent.
I wonder what is correct? 🤔
