Jordan Veretout has arrived ahead of his Roma medical, as his agent reveals the Fiorentina midfielder wanted this move since “the end of June.”
The Frenchman landed at the airport this evening and was greeted by reporters, while Roma confirmed he’ll have a medical on Saturday morning.
“I was the one who effectively set up Jordan’s move to Roma, as I proposed the player to (director Gianluca) Petrachi and we reached an agreement in our meeting at the end of June,” agent Mario Giuffredi told Il Tempo.
“That day Paulo Fonseca spoke to the player and after that conversation, Veretout was immediately convinced he wanted to come to Roma.”
However, Milan had seemingly overtaken Roma in the race for the midfielder until a deal was struck on loan with obligation to buy for a total €17m plus €2m in bonuses.
“Over the course of the last month, agreements changed a few times, but that is not the fault of Petrachi, Roma or anyone. This is the transfer market and it has certain demands.
“We had no other issues, if anything Veretout gave up on something compared to the June agreement. We had to wait for Roma and Fiorentina to reach a deal and they did that yesterday.
“Veretout firmly wanted to come to Roma and we are convinced he’ll do very well.”
Napoli midfielder Amadou Diawara is also on his way to the Capital, via car, as he too should undergo his medical for a Roma transfer on Saturday.
