The former Empoli midfielder has struggled to break into Maurizio Sarri’s side since his summer switch, but said today that he’s ‘not losing confidence’.
Agent Mario Giuffredi said his client must be patient in his efforts to usurp midfield rival Jorginho.
“The club, the player and I expect to achieve something important,” Giuffredi said to Radio Marte.
“Mirko just has to prove that he’s a great player when he gets space and wait for his turn given the form of Jorginho, just as the Italo-Brazilian did when Valdifiori was playing at the start.
“The last two months haven’t been great in terms of morale and football, but the worst is over and now he is confident of being able to retake a starting spot.
“He was a victim of a Napoli that wasn’t the same at the beginning as it is today, from this perspective he was unlucky.
“They have the same role but I think they have different characteristics, Jorginho is stronger at breaking up attacks while Valdifiori plays more for the team.”
