Martin Guastadisegno, agent of Juventus loanee Matias Soule, has hinted in a recent interview that the Bianconeri should focus on his client, who is still under contract, rather than going after Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi as has recently been suggested.
Soule, a graduate of Juventus’ Next Gen system, has already registered 15 Serie A appearances for the Old Lady since making his debut in 2021.
The 20-year-old forward moved to Frosinone on loan for the 2023-24 season, where he has already played four matches and found his first top flight goal for the club.
Recent reports, however, have suggested that Juventus could be poised to make a move to sign Berardi from Sassuolo in one of the next transfer windows, which would likely lessen Soule’s first-team opportunities when he returns from Frosinone.
Guastadisegno took part in a discussion with Tuttomercatoweb on Friday afternoon, during which he was asked why Juventus don’t focus directly on Soule, who has a contract in Turin until the summer of 2026.
Soule’s representative gave two reasons, one of which came from a neutral perspective, the other spoken in his role as Soule’s agent.
He told TMW: “Firstly, it concerns Juventus. They are a top club and it’s normal that they always look for experienced players who already have important roles for top flight sides. Berardi is a very strong player, it’s normal that Juventus would follow him for next summer.
“Next, however, I will also give you a speech as Soule’s agent,” Guastadisegno told listeners.
“Juve have a player under contract who is almost 10 years younger than Berardi and he shouldn’t have to be sacrificed. Soule is a player who already knows the environment and everything else around the place.”
He added: “Surely they could adjust the salary and the length of contract.”
“Having said that, we are in September. First of all, we must hope that he plays the whole season and then choices will be made. Thinking so far into the future right now would not be responsible on my part and I understand the club must improve and look for the right options on the market.
“Maybe at the end of the year Juventus will decide against going for Berardi and focus on Soule, or we could receive important offers that need to be evaluated. We will see.”
