Agent Davide Lippi revealed Roma and Italy full-back Leonardo Spinazzola will have ‘another consultation within a month’ but stressed the ‘recovery is progressing well’.

The Italy international injured his Achilles during the 78th minute of the EURO 2020 knockout match against Belgium.

The Giallorossi player had starred for the Azzurri up until that point and collected the winner’s medal on crutches at Wembley later the same month.

Spinazzola moves closer to comeback

Emerson Palmieri has stepped in at left-back since, as Italy continue to fight for a place at the World Cup in Qatar next year.

Agent Lippi said Spinazzola’s ‘enthusiasm is overwhelming’ when he spoke about the injured defender in an interview with TMW.

“He’s a lion,” Lippi said. “He’s fine and has been working like crazy over the past three to four months.

“Now, you can’t be in a hurry, you have to manage the situation in the right way. His enthusiasm is overwhelming, if it was up to him, he would play tomorrow.

“In reality, it still takes some time, it can be a month or a month and a half… Let’s see, there will be another consultation within a month, but the recovery is progressing well.”
