Danijel Arnautovic, agent and brother of Inter striker Marko, admits he offered the Austria international to the Nerazzurri after Bologna had rejected an offer from Roma.

Arnautovic returned to Inter after 13 years in August, completing a €10m move from Bologna.

“It’s true that some Saudi clubs spoke to Marko in the past, but he had already played in China and he wanted to return to Europe, so he was happy to go to Bologna,” Danijel Arnautovic told Sport and Talk on ServusTV.

“We had already spoken to two top Italian clubs [this summer]. Inter were not even on the radars at that moment and Bologna had already said no to Roma because they could not find a replacement,” he continued.

“Marko seemed destined to stay, but then Inter needed a striker, so I wrote to Piero Ausilio: ‘I have what you need.’

“He didn’t reply initially even though we’ve known each other for 14 years and we are close friends. Then he called me, we clarified everything and Bologna accepted the offer.”
