Roberto Calenda, the agent of Napoli star Victor Osimhen, underlined his client’s happiness at the club amidst various transfer rumours.

The 23-year-old Nigerian forward was linked with various top clubs during the summer transfer window but a move away never materialised and he remained a part of Luciano Spalletti’s squad. Osimhen missed six games across Serie A and the Champions League due to a hamstring injury but has returned in good form, scoring in his last two outings.

Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, Calenda discussed Osimhen’s situation and the various transfer market rumours.

“We haven’t found out now that Osimhen is the subject of interest from so many teams, but things are done in three: who sells, who buys and the player.

“I was immediately clear this summer because I knew there would be a lot of news coming out from those who had other interests perhaps. But I, the boy and Napoli had very clear ideas.”

He confirmed that Osimhen has no plans to leave Napoli and is happy at the club.

“Whoever talked about a departure made a mistake. It was Victor’s will to stay at Napoli and play the Champions League that he won entry to last year together with his teammates.

“Victor wanted exactly that, to have a great year with Napoli, between the league and the Champions League. He has a long contract with the Azzurri. The market is dynamic, but our will is to continue at Napoli and continue to do well.”

The 23-year-old Osimhen, who is contracted to Napoli until 2025, has made eight appearances across all competitions so far this season. In that time, he’s scored four goals and provided one assist, being an important part of Spalletti’s squad.

  1. I wish Napoli and the local politicians would realize the importance of a new 50.000-55.000 seater stadium without running tracks. I might cost an arm and a leg, but in less than ten years it would be paid for and easily bring in more than 50 mill more per season. Ask Apple or Amazon to sponsor the name for the stadium.
