The agent of Napoli forward Eduardo Vargas warns ‘many clubs are interested’, and feels his client hasn’t been given a chance.

The 25-year-old hit the headlines thanks a stunning goal for Chile in last night’s Copa America semi-final, and his representative was asked why the player is consistently loaned out by the Partenopei.

“It’s a good question,” Cristian Ogalde admitted, speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“I’d turn it over to [Walter] Mazzarri, who decided not to ever play him for Napoli in his first year. So far, Napoli have hardly ever used Vargas for a whole season.

“Every year, at this time, everyone asks about Vargas. He’s scored a lot of goals with the national team, he’s the top scorer in the Copa America, I imagine there will soon be a lot of clubs interested in getting someone who provides that level of performance.

“Will he get a chance with Maurizio Sarri? I don’t know, it’s up to Napoli. It’s a decision for the club. Edu and I have not received any phone calls from the leadership of the club.

“Vargas is a Napoli player, and he wants to be play. He wants to be happy, and to be given the space that he and his level of performance deserve.

“That said, it’s too early to say where he’ll play next season. Everything depends on the conversation we’ll have with Napoli.

“We’ve always respected the will of the Neapolitan club.”
