Gattuso suggested that the Frenchman was a hindrance to the Rossoneri cause, as despite his 16 goals he has “created problems”.
Responding in an interview with Footmercato, a French website, the player’s brother and agent defended the attacker.
“These things get said in the media, or by former players,” Kevin Menez explained.

“These things get said in the media, or by former players,” Kevin Menez explained.
“Jeremy is used to it, he knows how it goes. We must accept criticism, because it’s part of the game, but I think every Coach would like to have a 16 goal ‘problem’.
“[Coach] Pippo [Inzaghi] has always defended him. People say he is individualistic, but he is the second-best passer at the club, as well as being top-scorer.
“He’s done what he has to do, even if you can always do better.
“It’s easy to point to Jeremy as a problem but, like I say, I think a lot of Coaches would enjoy having a problem with 16 goals.”
The former Paris Saint-Germain player has been linked with moves to Monaco and Liverpool, but his representative insists he wants to stay at San Siro.
“At the moment, we’re happy with Jeremy at the club. The club hasn’t told us anything, so there’s no reason to leave.
“Of course, we know that in modern football every player is for sale, but we haven’t been contacted by anyone, and Jeremy feels good at Milan, where he’s had the best season of his career.
“Liverpool and Monaco? These are just rumours, there are rumours around every player.
“A player who has scored 16 goals will be sought-after, but at the moment there’s nothing concrete.”
