The Brazilian midfielder hit the heights at Anfield with Benitez in charge, but has fallen by the wayside under Brendan Rodgers.

“Is it possible for Lucas Leiva to leave Liverpool in January? Yes, naturally,” representative Henrique Coelho told Calciomercato.com.

“Lucas Leiva really likes Rafa Benitez. After all, the two know each other well from when the Spaniard was manager of Liverpool.”

He had already been a transfer target for Napoli for the past year, but this could be the time when all the different issues align.

Lucas has a contract with Liverpool until June 2017 and will turn 28 in January.
