Lautaro Martinez’s agent reiterates the striker ‘wants to stay at Inter, believes in the project and is aiming for another’ Serie A title, with a meeting set on Wednesday to discuss the new contract.

The Argentina international remains hot property on the transfer market, with an asking price that had been €90m, but with Romelu Lukaku’s €115m move to Chelsea, losing him as well became inconceivable.

“Lautaro wants to stay at Inter,” agent Alejandro Camano told FCInterNews.

“He believes in the Nerazzurri project and is aiming for another Scudetto. There is a meeting planned with Inter on Wednesday.

“We’ll do everything possible so that he remains with the Nerazzurri. Martinez is very happy in Milan, gets along very well with his teammates and the new coach.

“He heard a lot being said, but didn’t take it seriously at any point. He believes – and we believe – that there is still life in Inter.”

Lautaro Martinez inevitably will ask for a pay rise when discussing a new contract, especially as he is currently on a fairly low salary of €2.5m per season.

“Lautaro doesn’t talk about money, but of football. That’s what his agent is for. At most, Martinez can say how happy he is in Milan and with this team. I can tell you that we all need to adapt to the new situation.”

Camano was asked why the striker had rebuffed the proposals from Premier League sides like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, with Atletico Madrid also interested.

“He wants to win the Scudetto again with Inter, play a good Champions League campaign with the Nerazzurri and is in no way at this moment thinking about leaving Italy.

“He absolutely believes in the Inter project.”

Toro turns 24 later this month and his current contract with Inter runs to June 2023.

He was able to score 19 goals with 11 assists in 48 competitive games wearing the Nerazzurri jersey last season.
