Franck Kessie’s agent was present at the Gewiss Stadium for the match between Atalanta and Milan in Serie A on Sunday.

Milan picked up a 3-2 win after another great performance against La Dea, with Kessie’s agent George Atangana in the stands.

The Ivory Coast international is negotiating a new deal with the Rossoneri, but the reports in Italian media claim there’s still a big gap between the offer from the club and player’s the request.

The player’s agent was approached by Telelombardia and asked about the current situation of the former Atalanta midfielder.

“Ask the directors,” Atangana told the broadcaster. “I’m just here for the game.”

Kessie has entered his last year of his contract at Milanello, but during the Olympic games in Tokyo this summer, the 24-year-old said he would love to ‘stay at Milan forever’.

He arrived from Atalanta on an initial paid loan in July 2017, before completing a permanent move to Milan in 2019.

The operation reportedly cost €34m in total and Kessie has since established himself as a vital player at the Diavolo – appearing 191 times, contributing 30 goals and 15 assists.

  1. In my opinion it’s pretty clear that he won’t renew and will leave either in January or more likely at the end of the season for free. And I think Milan already knew this before the season began that’s why they signed Bakayoko AND blocked Adli for next season already.

I really hope I’m wrong, but I think he’s gone. The difference between offer and demand seems unbridgeable since it’s an unreasonable demand on his part.

At least he played better in Atalanta. He was a disaster before.

  2. @Milan Fan my thoughts exactly. You know when there is a big difference between what you offer and what is demanded that the deal won’t be completed. Unfortunately Kessie is really bad advised here because he wants to earn 4X his current salary. And Milan cannot afford that not only in economic terms… what would the rest of the team think? Forget about players like Rebic who earn 3.5m, what about Theo under 2m? What about Tomori or Kjaer? What about Brahim? Everyone will want to earn a lot and that will create a huge problem at the dressing room. I am 90% sure the ivorian will go, life will go on and he probably will do a big Donnarumma and fail. Not a fan of these guys who after a year and a half of good level want to earn like a world beater and in the middle of a pandemic. Not a chance

  3. He showed against Atalanta how important he is. We don’t have another who can do that job. Needs to be signed IMO. Even if just to keep him for 2 seasons and then sell for big money.

  4. Comments are spot on , we need him , demands are high , we can’t really afford it , and it would leave the other players wanting more . Its a really complicated situation , an endless source of funds may be required to fix this .
