Franck Kessié’s agent George Atangana insists the Ivorian midfielder will leave Milan only if a ‘coup d’état’ takes place.

The contract of the 24-year-old expires in June 2022 and the Rossoneri don’t want him to walk out of the club for nothing like Gigio Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu did last month.

The contract of both players expired on June 30. The goalkeeper has reached an agreement with PSG, while Calhanoglu joined Milan’s arch-rivals Inter.

Milan are now in talks to extend Kessié’s contract, but the two parties have yet not reached an agreement.

Kessié is on a €2.2m-a-year deal at the San Siro and according to Calciomercato.com, the midfielder wants a sizeable pay rise.

According to a previous report from Tuttosport, Milan have offered Kessié a new €3.8m-a-year deal, but his agent wants a new contract in the region of €6m-a-year.

However, he told La Gazzetta dello Sport that ‘only a coup d’état’ could see Kessié leave Milan at the end of 2021-22.

Kessié has been included in the Ivory Coast squad for the Tokyo Olympics, meaning he will miss the pre-season with the Diavoli.
