The player’s representative played down links to Napoli earlier today, and says the centre-back will get his chance in pre-season to show he's up to scratch.

“Juventus redeemed him from Empoli in January,” Davide Torchia pointed out, in an interview with SportItalia.

“There’s a willingness from the directors, but also from [Coach Max] Allegri and [President Andrea] Agnelli to see him in the squad, see what he can do and let him take his chances.

“So they will not consider any offers.

“From now until August there may be some opportunities, we’ll see, but at the moment there has been no contact.

“I think this year the lad will have the space he deserves, they think he’s already ready, and the Coach wants to see him in action.”
