The midfielder left the Partenopei in the summer of 2018 for €57m after four years to join Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea, and after some early criticism, has played a vital role under Sarri and now Frank Lampard this season.
“At the moment Jorginho is worth €80m, and Napoli could not afford to buy a player for €80m. It’s not that he wants to go, but for Napoli it’s impossible to spend that amount of money,” Santos told Radio Kiss Kiss.
Napoli had been criticised for their style of play in the final weeks of the Carlo Ancelotti era, but Santos maintains that they, and all teams in Serie A, play good football.
“In football there are always surprises. For me in Serie A every team plays well, even (bottom of the table) SPAL.
“Napoli is a great team with great players, but it’s a psychological issue with them.”
