Keisuke Honda’s agent admits “it’s obvious he is not part” of Milan’s plans, but insists there are no talks with Shanghai SIPG.

The Japan international has barely featured this season under Coach Vincenzo Montella and will be out of contract at the end of the season, so a January exit seems likely.

“Keisuke is a great professional and his way of experiencing the sport means he will always respect Montella’s choices,” Hiroyuki Honda told Calciomercato.com.

“Keisuke is a great professional and his way of experiencing the sport means he will always respect Montella’s choices,” Hiroyuki Honda told Calciomercato.com.

“It’s obvious the two never quite sparked and he is not part of Montella’s plans. He probably doesn’t consider Honda to be fundamental at the moment, but in football things can change very quickly.

“He would have absolutely no problem renewing the contract with Milan, as he is happy at the club.”

There has been talk of an offer from Chinese club Shanghai SIPG.

“I too saw this in the media, but I wonder how this rumour can continue when we haven’t received any kind of signal. I can affirm with certainty that we haven’t been made aware of any interest from them.

“My brother is in good shape physically and knows he has a lot more to give. It all depends on how the next few months go at Milan, as we still have a contract until June.

“Up until last month we were in contact with the club. We already discussed the possibility of extending it over the summer, but now we have to wait for the new Chinese owners and understand what their intentions are.

“So far we have not had contact with any other club. We’ll wait for next month and, if there isn’t the desire to continue together, we could start evaluating other offers.”
