Samir Handanovic’s agent admits talks have broken down over a contract extension for the goalkeeper.

The Slovenian international’s contract expires at the end of next season, and he was thought to be close to a new deal, despite links to Manchester United.

However, the player’s representative has today revealed that talks are on hold, opening the door for ‘important offers’.

“Things have changed,” Federico Pastorello told FCInterNews.

“We’ve broken off negotiations for an extension, we’ll possibly resume in September, if important offers don’t arrive.

“At the moment the offers we’ve received haven’t satisfied the lad, they weren’t considered interesting. He’s happy with the way the club [Inter] are moving in the transfer market, so for now he’ll stay.

“Who made the offers? Since the player rejected them I don’t think it’s smart to say.

“All doors are open, we haven’t ruled anything out. That’s how the transfer market works, if valuable offers arrive then we’ll assess them.”

Pastorello also gave an insight into the failed transfer for Giannelli Imbula, having been an intermediary between the Nerazzurri and Marseille.

“Imbula want to Porto because of the transfer fee. The Portuguese club satisfied Marseille, although Inter had already reached an agreement with the French club.

“Imbula said yes to Inter, but didn’t rule out Porto. A better offer then came in from Portugal. Marseille had to get as much as possible for him, and get cash quickly.

“The agreement was there, but Porto came back in with an offer which proved to be decisive. They went further than Inter in terms of payment, so the Dragao prevailed.

“Imbula didn’t rule out either destination, there were positives and negatives on both sides, in the end the difference was the agreement between the clubs.

“We always stood firm, we didn’t raise the offer, because we had a planned budget for this player. We made an offer to the French club, and after that there wasn’t much we could do.”
