The Brazilian hasn’t featured for the Viola since going off injured after 15 minutes of the 4-1 win over Inter last month, but is now ready to make his comeback.

The Brazilian hasn’t featured for the Viola since going off injured after 15 minutes of the 4-1 win over Inter last month, but is now ready to make his comeback.

“Gilberto is ready to return to the squad,” Angelo Arquilla informed Firenze Viola.

“Medically he has recovered, and either tomorrow or Friday he’ll return to working with the rest of his teammates.

“I don’t know if he’ll be available for the match against Roma, but certainly he’ll be in a position to be called-up for Verona.

“[Coach Paulo] Sousa reassured him that he really believes in him. That was crucial. Now he’s only thinking about returning to action and growing with the team.

“Being top of the table at the start of his experience in Italy is a dream for him.”

Arquilla was then asked about the condition of Fiorentina this season, and believes they can maintain their early form.

“If they don’t lose against Roma, there are a series of winnable games which could give them a good advantage over the others.

“This is a complete team, with a  Coach who is very well-prepared. Fiorentina can be a surprise until the last day.

“Indeed, if you’ll excuse me, ‘fino alla fine’ [‘to the end’, the Juventus motto].”
