Valencia coach Gennaro Gattuso and director Miguel Angel Corona have ‘already called’ to discuss signing Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez, claims his agent.

The Uruguay international midfielder turns 27 tomorrow and is linked with a move away in every transfer window, yet continues to remain in Sardinia, where he first arrived from Boca Juniors in 2019 at a cost of €16m.

The latest candidates for his exit, after a Serie A return for Bologna, would seem to be LaLiga outfit Valencia.

“There are two or three proposals for Nahitan Nandez,” agent Pablo Bentancur told Quiero Futbol.

“Gattuso called me personally asking to take him to Valencia. Now the sporting director of Valencia has also called and I am going to ring him back to discuss it.”

Italian tactician Gattuso has requested reinforcements during the January transfer window at Valencia and that includes a midfielder with Nandez’s characteristics.

So far this season, the Uruguayan has played 18 Serie B games, contributing two assists.

He also earned links with a possible transfer to Bologna in Serie A.

Nandez has 49 senior caps for Uruguay under his belt, but was not included in the squad attending the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, who failed to make it past the group phase.
