Lautaro Martinez’s agent, Alejandro Camano, insists the Inter star is already thinking about the next target but hints that he’s in no rush to sign a contract extension with the Nerazzurri.

Lautaro missed the final penalty kick for Inter against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, contributing to the Nerazzurri’s Champions League exit in the Round of 16.

Camano spoke about his client’s reaction in his latest interview with CalcioNapoli24.

“He is a strong man. He knows this is football. There is a big disappointment, but he’s happy at Inter, where he feels the responsibility of being the captain,” said the striker’s agent, as quoted by Calciomercato.com.

“After the disappointment against Atletico, we need to focus on the next objective and target the Champions League again next season. The whole team needs reinforcements, and this competition is also a financial target, as clubs need the money.”

The Argentinean forward’s deal at the Stadio Meazza runs out in June 2026 and Inter have been in talks with his representative over a new deal for several months. Camano even met Inter directors before Wednesday’s Champions League match against Atletico.

“Lautaro is in an excellent moment. He has two years left in his contract and I am on good terms with the club as I was the agent of Hector Cuper, an ex-Inter coach,” said Camano.

“Given that he has two years left, the dialogue is open, and we can continue it calmly. Lautaro knows that Inter is the most important thing now.”

Inter will host Napoli at the Stadio Meazza on Sunday so Camano was asked if his client could move to the Stadio Maradona one day.

“Napoli are always fascinating for an Argentinean player. Maradona was a sentiment for Argentina, but right now Lautaro is happy at Inter,” he replied.

Camano also said he spoke to Aurelio De Laurentiis in the past about three other clients: Borja Mayoral, Achraf Hakimi and Alvaro Negredo.

“I am impressed by Inter’s playing style,” continued Lautaro’s agent.

“I think they are the best in Italian football. Inter-Napoli will be a great game for the whole of Europe, between two teams with a big heart.”
