‘The Diawara case’ was the talking point after Serie A Week 1, when an error registering the Guinean midfielder cost the Giallorossi one point against Hellas Verona.

Diawara played in the opening Serie A 0-0 draw with the Gialloblu, but the midfielder was not included in the squad list.

He was still in the Under-22 list of players, but turned 23 on July 17, so was no longer eligible for that group.

Roma consequently lost the match 3-0 by default and the agent Piraino stressed Diawara was not to blame.

“The player is not at fault for not having been included in the list,” Piraino told Tuttomercatoweb. “It was also a regret for Amadou, that the company forgot to include him.

“But is it his fault? Indeed, the fact that they are calling it the ‘Diawara case’ is a shame, because it certainly didn’t please him, and the responsibilities are not his.”

And Diawara was left out of the starting XI in the 2-2 draw with Juventus on Sunday but replaced Lorenzo Pellegrini after 72 minutes.

“In this period, it’s a shame. He was happy with his teammates’ performance, but he wanted to start the match.

“He wanted to stay in the line-up for what he does and like he deserves to.”

Diawara has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer and his agent now calls for ‘clarity’.

“There’s a week left of the transfer market, if we add technical choices to the list, we need to discuss with the club.

“We would like clarity on his real role and the importance of Amadou in the club’s project.”
