Sven Botman’s agent is confident the Lille defender will ‘make the right decision’ between Milan and Newcastle United in the summer.
The centre-back has been valued at a minimum of €30m and Lille refused to even consider a sale in the January transfer window.
Nonetheless, he is widely expected to make a move at the end of this season, with Milan and Newcastle the main contenders for his signature.
“One of Sven’s greatest strengths is that he is always very certain in the decisions he makes, so he doesn’t let himself get conditioned and above all has real courage,” agent Nikkie Bruinenberg told Voetbal International.
“Sven isn’t afraid to take a risk. I am sure that he will make the right decision over the summer. Milan and Newcastle are both big clubs.”
While the Magpies have just come into money after the takeover from Saudi firm PIF, they are struggling near the relegation zone in the Premier League, which prompted many players to turn them down.
On the other hand, Milan are hoping to qualify for the Champions League for the second year running and are still challenging Inter for the Scudetto.
However, Botman’s agent insists the decision is not necessarily cut and dried.
“We mustn’t make the mistake of thinking Newcastle would only be an economic choice. They are starting to create a good project there, while Milan are a very prestigious club.”
Botman turned 22 last month and has already been called up for training with the senior Netherlands squad, although he hasn’t yet made his debut.
A product of the Ajax youth academy, he was purchased by Lille in July 2020.

Newcastle can afford him. Even in the championship. It’s obvious that will be his choice. What can you do when even a terrible team owned by terrible owners are a better destination than one of the biggest clubs in the world.
