Agent: ‘Borini wants to play’

Fabio Borini’s agent says the Liverpool striker wants to leave as ‘he wasn’t given the opportunity to play’.

The Italian made just three Premier League starts for Brendan Rodgers’ side, and his representative reveals interest from around the continent.

“He still has a year on his contract with Liverpool,” Marco De Marchi told SportItalia.

“He wasn’t given the opportunity to play this year, and we’re evaluating what would be the best project for Fabio.

“He still has a year on his contract with Liverpool,” Marco De Marchi told SportItalia.

“He wasn’t given the opportunity to play this year, and we’re evaluating what would be the best project for Fabio.

“He wants to play, to show what he can do, as he has done in recent years, such as at Sunderland.

“The lad is being followed by many European clubs, including Italian ones. We’re still evaluating, because a lot of clubs changed their manager and must wait for directives from their Coach.

“I’d say whoever signs Fabio it would be a good deal.

“Inter? I saw in the papers that [sporting director Piero] Ausilio said he liked him, but I haven’t had a call.”

De Marchi did appear to confirm that his client would not be staying at Anfield.

“There are no grounds for that after what happened last year. It’s like if you kept a lion in a cage for a year.”
