Marko Arnautovic’s agent announced he has received ‘an offer from a top club and would like Bologna to understand the importance of this opportunity,’ with reports it is Inter rather than Roma.

The Giallorossi had been linked with the veteran striker over the last few days, as they continue their hunt for a centre-forward to replace Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko.

However, Sky Sport Italia claim this evening that Inter have also made an approach, offering circa €3m plus bonuses.

“Last summer we received two very important proposals from the Premier League and out of respect for Bologna we did nothing,” agent Danijel Arnautovic told Sky Sport Italia.

“We received more offers at the start of June and Bologna promised that if there was interest from a top club, they would consider the sale so Marko could go.

“Now this offer has arrived and we would like Bologna to understand the importance of this opportunity for him. It would allow him to compete at the highest level and win titles.”

This would also be a remarkable completion of Arnautovic’s journey, considering he first came to Italy for Inter on loan from FC Twente in the summer of 2009.

He made only three competitive appearances for the club, with a total of 55 minutes of football on the pitch.

Experiences at Werder Bremen, Stoke City, West Ham United and Shanghai Port followed, until his move to Bologna in August 2021.

Bologna have been adamant that Arnautovic is worth €10m, as he had been approached by Milan several weeks ago, before Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara were dismissed.
