Frenkie de Jong’s agent has allayed fears that the Ajax midfielder will miss Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final first leg at Juventus.

Ajax thrashed Excelsior 6-2 on Saturday, but the result was overshadowed by De Jong limping off just 24 minutes in.

That left the Dutch club sweating over the 21-year-old’s fitness, but Ali Dursun insists he was only taken off as a precaution.

“He went off as a precaution,” Dursun told De Telegraaf.

“Frenkie felt pain in his hamstring, but at no time did he feel really bad.It seems the fear was greater than the damage.”

As it stands, the Amsterdammers will be without only left-back Nicolas Tagliafico in Turin through suspension.

The tie is finely poised at 1-1 from the first leg, with De Jong considered one of Ajax’s best performers.
