After paying a record fee to sign Sandro Tonali, Newcastle United are also reportedly poaching Milan’s team manager Andrea Romeo.

The Magpies certainly seem to have been inspired by the Rossoneri and want to bring over a few different elements from San Siro.

According to La Repubblica newspaper, the Premier League side have managed to tempt team manager Romeo to Tyneside.

He had been in the role since 2017 and before that was a team manager at Inter from 2014-16.

Romeo turns 53 next month and is most famous as a former Serie A and B referee, overseeing 94 top flight games before his retirement in 2013.

He was already absent from Milan’s pre-season tour of the USA, so the position was temporarily covered by Giuseppe Coviello, the current commercial player liaison.

Options to take the role of Rossoneri team manager permanent include head of commercial football operations Lorenzo Libutti and board member Dario Aduasio.
