Newcastle United have Sandro Tonali in their grasp, but are also reportedly hoping to go on a spending spree in Serie A for his Milan teammate Theo Hernandez and Juventus forward Federico Chiesa.

Multiple sources are confident a deal was done today for Tonali, which will be worth €70m plus €5m in bonuses and a percentage of the sell-on fee, taking the total to circa €80m.

The midfielder should also receive a contract worth €8m per season including bonuses, undergoing a medical tomorrow in Romania, where he is playing for Italy at the European Under-21 Championship.

However, Sky Sport Italia transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Newcastle do not intend to stop here in Serie A.

They are also hoping to tempt Milan into a sale for Theo Hernandez, which seems unlikely even for €100m, especially as there is also interest from Atletico Madrid.

A more intriguing proposal could be for unsettled Juventus forward Chiesa, who has never quite been able to find his role within Max Allegri’s tactics.

Aston Villa have also been linked with Italy international Chiesa, who at 25 still has a long way ahead of him, even if the last two years were largely overshadowed by a serious knee injury.

However, he has no intention of joining a team in the Conference League.
