New Sampdoria owner Andrea Radrizzani is expected to complete the sale of Leeds United to American franchise 49ers Enterprises by next week.

The Italian businessman had invested first in football in England by purchasing Leeds United from Massimo Cellino in 2017 and helped get them promoted to the Premier League.

However, his interests moved elsewhere and this summer he agreed a takeover of recently-relegated Serie A club Sampdoria from Massimo Ferrero.

With that in progress, Radrizzani is also in advanced negotiations to sell Leeds to 49ers Enterprises and Telegraph Sport claims that deal could be completed within a week.

Much like his own takeover from Cellino, Radrizzani is aided by the fact the American company already own 44 per cent of Leeds United and President Paraag Marathe has been on the board of the club since 2018.

The only setback for Radrizzani is that relegation from the Premier League means the value of the club has dropped from £400m.
