Salernitana will sign Franck Ribery on Monday and are now attempting to court David Luiz, who has also been linked with Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio.
The newly-promoted Serie A club confirmed a basic agreement has been reached and Ribery is set for a medical on Monday, before putting pen to paper on the one-year contract.
That’s not the end of their push for more prestigious players, because Sportitalia now report that Salernitana are also in preliminary talks with David Luiz.
A meeting is planned with the ex-Arsenal defender’s agent over the next few days.
The Brazil international defender is currently a free agent and is waiting for offers from Europe before he accepts the bid from Flamengo.
Lazio have also shown an interest in the former Chelsea centre-back, who would reunite with coach Sarri after their time together at Stamford Bridge.
He turned 34 in April and is a free agent after his contract with Arsenal expired.
His other clubs include Benfica and Paris Saint-Germain.
