After Inter, Roma also drop Digitalbits sponsor over failed payment

After Inter were forced to abandon their deal due to missed payments, now Roma have also reportedly removed the Digitalbits logo from their jersey.

The crypto-currency firm had made a splash in Serie A by becoming the shirt sponsor of two top tier clubs this season.

However, the problems quickly emerged with Inter revealing they had not received several instalments of the planned payment for the sponsorship deal.

The logo was therefore removed from the jerseys and the advertising boards around San Siro.

Until now, the deal with Roma had been paid regularly, but Calcio e Finanza and Il Tempo both report that too has now changed and Digitalbits have missed payments to the Capital club as well.

It is claimed that Roma have asked the Lega Serie A for permission to remove the logo from their shirts in tomorrow’s Serie A showdown against Milan, instead placing ‘SPQR’ on their chests.

That is a reference to the Ancient Roman name for the city and a way of putting something in place of the main sponsor.

The partnership has been only suspended and could be revived if the payment comes through.
