The former Inter striker tried to make his latest Serie A bid a success, but after signing for the Giallorossi in the summer, he terminated his contract by mutual consent yesterday.

“I gave up a lot of money to leave Roma, but I prefer to be happy,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“In any case, I leave Italy with my head held high. I think principally the injuries and bad luck were why things didn't go well at Roma.

“As soon as I was starting to get back in shape, something always happened that would stop me again.

“I played well against both Milan and Chievo, then got hurt again, most recently when fracturing my shoulder.

“I am returning to Brazil because I miss my children too much. Every time I speak to them on the phone, I feel like crying. I cannot do without them and my family.”

Adriano could return to his former club, Flamengo.
