Former striker Adriano highlighted how he doesn’t ‘miss an Inter game for anything’ and was confident that Simone Inzaghi’s side could lift the Champions League trophy.
The Nerazzurri flew to an impressive 2-0 win over intercity rivals Milan in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, with two early goals coming from Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The result leaves the Rossoneri with a mountain to climb.
The winner of this European Derby della Madonnina will face the victor of Manchester City-Real Madrid in the final, an incredibly tough match that’ll leave either Italian side as the underdog.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Adriano discussed his love for Inter and his thoughts after their Champions League semi-final win over Milan.
“I don’t miss an Inter game for anything in the world. It is a love that I will always carry inside me. I celebrated the victory over Milan and I was impressed not only by the result, but also by the way my team tackled such an important match.
“Now I hope for the return leg and then in the final, nothing is decided. I believe Inter can beat anyone. We would go to Istanbul with our heads held high and without fear, even though the opponent will be very strong.”
Adriano spent six years total of his playing career with Inter, emerging briefly as one of the best strikers in the world at the club, before off-pitch issues derailed his career.
