Adriano backs Inter to beat Roma tomorrow, and insists “I still feel like a footballer”.

The Brazilian striker played for both clubs, though he only made five Serie A appearances for the Giallorossi, without scoring.

“It’s a game which has a lot of meaning for me,” Adriano told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Inter will always be in my heart, but I have great affection for Roma. They’re two very strong teams, who seem to be on the same level so I expect a hard-fought game.

“Inter will always be in my heart, but I have great affection for Roma. They’re two very strong teams, who seem to be on the same level so I expect a hard-fought game.

“I can’t deny I have a preference for Inter, it was there I became a footballer.

“Which team could use the Adriano of 10 years ago? Maybe Inter, but that might be because I always see myself in those colours.

“That’s my heart talking.”

The Brazilian was once considered one of the hottest talents in world football, but went off the rails somewhat, making just 12 League appearances in the last six years.

It was widely assumed the 34-year-old had retired, but he has signed-up to play for Miami United in the fourth-tier of American football.

“Why did I come back? The desire to train, play and breathe in the pitch. I thank Miami United for giving me this opportunity.

“I’m fine and I still feel like a footballer. I can be ready in three weeks. I still have something to offer and I wanted the opportunity to do that.

“Anyone who thinks I’m here to party is wrong. Up until yesterday I was in Rio, I wouldn’t have left if that’s what I wanted.

“I also thought of my brother Thiago, who will be going to college and starting a new chapter, while I will have the opportunity to play for another one or two years and prepare for the future.

“Could my future be as a Coach? It’s a possibility. I’m thinking about it and its something I’d like.”
