Adriano has vowed to stay at Roma until the end of his contract in 2013 amid confusion about his future.

The 28-year-old sparked concern when he did not arrive back in Italy for the start of Roma's training camp.

It then emerged that Adriano had stayed in Brazil because his uncle had suffered a heart attack.

He also allegedly told reporters that he will play for Flamengo in June, comments that the player's agent has since denied.

"I have a contract until 2013 and I have promised that I will stay until the end," Adriano told the Roma Channel.

"If I hadn't wanted to come back, I wouldn't have picked up the phone and I would have asked my agent to come here.

"I've had problems with the passport and my uncle felt ill.

"It wasn't a great New Years for me. Now I am here. I know that I have to apologise because I have arrived late, but I am happy at Roma and I have come back for that reason.

"I am used to the fact that things are often invented about my life," he concluded.
