From forgotten to hero, Yacine Adli has worked hard to turn things around with Milan and is now being rewarded for his efforts.

The 23-year-old Frenchman hardly featured in his debut season with the Rossoneri, seeing just 140 minutes of action across six Serie A matches. The club were open to selling him in the summer, but a transfer never materialised, leaving him in Stefano Pioli’s squad.

Pioli decided to start Milan in their 3-1 win over Cagliari, impressing as a regista in front of the defence. He was praised by the coach after the full time whistle and now is ready to continue his emergence with the club.

Pages five and six of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport detail how Adli is set to start in Milan’s upcoming clash with Lazio, carving out a spot for himself in the squad after his strong performance in Sardinia.

Pioli will continue focusing on the 23-year-old’s role as a regista, adding an extra layer to his midfield in a crucial stage of the season.

Adli not expected to start against Borussia Dortmund, however, as Yunus Musah will likely take on the spot in front of the defence.

  1. Adli is a quality player, needs to be given more game time his more like Andre Pirlo. We should also utilise Musa defensive midfielder who can also attack, a bit of Kesie. The only problem is the right back and central striker .
