Yacine Adli refused all moves away from Milan this summer as he waited to be given a chance under Stefano Pioli, which’ll come now following Rade Krunic’s injury.

The Rossoneri signed the 23-year-old Frenchman from Bordeaux in the summer of 2021 for around €8.5m and left him in Ligue 1 on loan for a year before welcoming him at Milanello last season.

In his first campaign with Milan, Adli hardly featured under Pioli, seeing just 140 minutes across six total appearances, one of which was a start.

In the summer transfer window, the French midfielder was linked with a long list of clubs including Salernitana, Empoli and Sassuolo, but he rejected all as he was keen to prove himself with the Rossoneri.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Adli is set to fill in for the injured Krunic in Pioli’s squad for the upcoming clash against Cagliari, finally giving him the chance after months on the sidelines of the project.

Pioli discussed the idea already, telling the media: “For Krunic it’s a muscular problem, he felt something in his flexor. It’s difficult to have him for the next games, but we have other resources, there’s Adli who I tried out in that role, and we can change something up front.”
