Napoli’s San Paolo stadium holds 60,000 fans, yet the Partenopei have averaged just half of that number this season, while supporters have regularly complained that De Laurentiis is not doing enough to close the gap on Juventus.

“You all want to know what’ll happen with Hamsik, but we won’t talk about him now,” said the President at a Press conference, where it was also confirmed the club had renewed their agreement to hold preseason training camps in Trentino.

“There’s nothing to say. When the time comes, in 3-4-5 days, we’ll summon you all and tell you what’s happened with our captain.

“You always report from the grapevine, saying incorrect things, but I enjoy it. We’ll start thinking about next season, which’ll be livelier with Inter also going for [the title] and a Juventus who will perhaps be quieter, even if this season isn’t over yet.

“I’m disappointed that the fans are only thinking about the Scudetto and not about being strong and representing the city.

“Everyone had to be at the stadium against Sampdoria. The prices were very low and it had to be full, also for revenge.

“Therefore I ask, are you Napoli fans? I was amazed, even if it happens elsewhere. Milan and Inter aren’t shining and play in less important matches yet still earn 5m on matchday, while we don’t exceed 3m.

“You can’t get blood out of a stone. I’ve ended the last three years in the red, while Filmauro instead has been ending in the black.

“That should shut up those who say that I make money out of football and none from Filmauro, which has recently funded three American films.”
