Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed he has “offered €10m to Monaco for Fabinho to start negotiations.”

The patron spoke to Monaco Hebdo about his interest in the 22-year-old right-back, who is valued at €15m.

“Yes, we are interested in Fabinho. I offered €10m to Monaco in order to start negotiations.

“Now I am trying to reinforce the midfield too, having reinforced the defence with Lorenzo Tonelli from Empoli.

“We’ll see what happens with Manolo Gabbiadini. I’d also like to strengthen the area of the pitch where Jose Callejon plays.”

De Laurentiis reiterated his hope for a European Super League to replace the Champions League.

“I’d create a Super League with the top six teams in each of the five top nations: Italy, France, Spain, Germany and England.

“This 30-team tournament would be played on home and away fixtures, Wednesday and Thursday, along with all the domestic fixtures.

“I would also like to reduce the participants in Serie A and the other four national leagues to just 12 or 14 at most. That would enable us to play every 10 days and create more expectation among fans, therefore more people at the games.”
