ADL makes peace with Napoli ultras

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis seems to have finally smoothed things over with the organised ultras groups after a peace summit, sealed by a group photo on Twitter.

“We are Napoli. President and fans united to win!” read the comment.

This was a call-back to the banner and chants that ultras had aimed at the patron on April 2, when insisting ‘We are Napoli.’

The tension between the ultras and the President had escalated in recent weeks to the point that they staged a silent protest during the most recent Serie A home match, a 4-0 defeat to Milan.

Coach Luciano Spalletti warned he was ready to walk away if that strange atmosphere repeated itself, especially with the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Milan coming up at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

There were also reports today that the local authorities had assigned bodyguards to De Laurentiis, but the situation seems to have been resolved in a peace summit today ahead of the match against Verona.

Part of the discussion was over ticket prices, but above all the ultras were angry at being potentially locked out of the organisation of the Scudetto celebrations.
