JP Morgan will finance the so-called Super League, and according to Il Corriere dello Sport, representatives from the American investment bank have contacted Napoli to ask them to join the new competition.

However, the Partenopei President Aurelio De Laurentiis denied the club had been invited.

“JP who? I was sleeping last night,” he wrote on Twitter.

Real Madrid and Napoli President Florentino Perez said last night: "The 15 founding clubs are the ones that matter the most in terms of entertainment. Other clubs, such as Napoli or Roma, will have a chance to join the competition one year or another."

Napoli currently sit fifth in the Serie A table, two points behind fourth-placed Juventus and with seven games remaining until the end of the Serie A campaign.
