The Partenopei owner has frequently criticised the local council for the state of the Stadio San Paolo, which he wants to buy and renovate.
“An agreement with the municipality is in progress,” De Laurentiis said on Radio Marte.
“If there’s an agreement, the problem will be making the San Paolo more beautiful than it is today. The Universiade slowed down our project of two years ago, where we’d provide €18m to move the stands closer to the pitch.
“Stadiums are made to play football, not to do athletics. We’re correct, it’s the ones who make the policy who aren’t correct.
“The state has always been absent, for Italia ’90 they stole the money and built bad stadiums.
“Italy must be in the hands of entrepreneurs, no politician has ever understood Italy.”
