Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has personally asked goalkeeper Pepe Reina to stay on for at least one more season.

The Spanish shot-stopper is currently on loan at the Partenoepi from Liverpool until the end of the campaign.

But since his arrival, the 31-year-old has become an integral part of the first team, playing in 39 games in all competitions.

As such, Corriere dello Sport report that De Laurentiis has spoken privately with Reina, pleading with him to stay at the club.

Parent club Liverpool are thought to be willing to sell their goalkeeper, but complications could arise should Barcelona come calling.

The Blaugrana have been heavily linked with the veteran, considering Victor Valdes and Jose Pinto are set to leave the side in the summer.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen is expected to be signed by the Catalan club, but Reina is seen as the ideal back-up by sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta.

Reina is said to be willing to stay at Napoli, but would find it difficult to turn down his boyhood team.
