Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis “will be applauding” Jorginho tonight, but hits out at politicians “who behave irresponsibly”.

The Partneopei patron has engaged in a war of words with the city of Naples over the ownership of Stadio San Paolo, which he has described as “a toilet”.

Speaking on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, the Vesuviani chief congratulated Jorginho on his first Italy call-up, but spent much of his time appearing to attack local politicians.

“Happy Easter to everyone, though it’s too early for the religious practices,” De Laurentiis began.

“On Sunday, instead of an egg I’d like the surprise of sincere willingness on the part of those who have institutional responsibilities, and instead behave irresponsibly to maintain their positions.

“People might be wondering what I’m talking about? We’ll talk after Easter, otherwise I might upset the stomachs of those who are preparing for sporting activities.

“My heart and thoughts are with Naples and all the people who suffer. For them the holidays representing clinging to life, a beautiful gift.

“I extend a hand and a thought to them above all, to those who suffer in silence with great decency and honesty.

“Naples and Campania are a source of pride, they must grow and improve together. This city needs positivity.

“Jorginho? I’ll be applauding him this evening.”
