Former Inter and Fiorentina defender Daniele Adani underlined the various positives behind a possible Cristiano Ronaldo move to Roma.

Reports from Italy today suggested that super agent Jorge Mendes had offered the 37-year-old Portuguese star to the Giallorossi as he looks to find a new home for his client. Ronaldo is unhappy with the state of things at Manchester United and he’s reportedly unconvinced about new appointment Erik Ten Hag.

Writing in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Adani argued for why a Ronaldo move to Roma would be an incredibly positive thing for both parties.

“In my opinion it is a beautiful idea because football is special if the dream and reality coexist in a project: Ronaldo is both.

“And then Rome is a fantastic city that gets carried away, the environment is very warm, it lives on peaks of enthusiasm.

“Ronaldo is a certainty, he is 37 years old, but biologically much younger. And his professionalism is well known, just imagine how many things the Roma boys could learn from watching Ronaldo in training.

“Cohabitation with Abraham? We would have to work on it, but I see more positive aspects, especially for the Englishman. Ronaldo could teach them a lot in movement, in marking, in movement in tight spaces.

“In the last season Roma did well predominantly in wide spaces, with Ronaldo something would change and there would be an extra option. Abraham is not Benzema, but he can improve a lot if put next to Ronaldo.”

The 37-year-old Ronaldo still shined in the Premier League last season despite Manchester United’s lethargic campaign; the Portuguese star netted 18 goals in 30 Premier League appearances, with his goals often bailing them out of poor results, like his 91st minute equaliser in a Champions League group stage game against Atalanta.

It’s hard to imagine Roma affording Ronaldo, considering his astronomical wages, but many fans still believe that the Friedkins could surprise everyone.
